John Harkness
Independent Chairman


John joined the Board in 2003, and was appointed Chairman in 2011.

A partner at KPMG for 25 years and National Executive Chairman for five years, John has held a number of non-executive director roles since leaving KPMG in 2000.He is currently an independent director of the Goodman Group as well as Chairman of Reliance Rail, Chairman of the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation and Vice‑President of Northern Suburbs Rugby Football Club Limited.

John is a Fellow of both The Institute of Chartered Accountants (Australia) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Sue Palmer
Independent Director





Sue joined the Board in 2015. She has more than 30 years’ financial and commercial experience across a range of industry sectors in Australia and Asia, including construction, mining, property development, energy, infrastructure and agriculture.

Most recently, Sue was Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at Thiess Pty Ltd and she currently sits on the boards of RCR Tomlinson and New Hope Corporation.

Sue’s past directorships include MSF Sugar Ltd, Port of Brisbane Corporation, Queensland Competition Authority and the Royal Blind Foundation. Ms Palmer is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors. 

Alan Rattray-Wood

Alan Rattray-Wood
Independent Director

Alan joined the Board in 1996, and is a member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. He is an experienced industry participant with more than 30 years’ experience involving supermarket management, neighbourhood and regional sized shopping centre management, development and leasing, having held management roles with Woolworths, Westfield Holdings and other private developers. Since 1990, he has operated his own retail development consultancy practice, focusing on all facets of shopping centre development and retail chain insolvency workouts.

Michael Gorman
Independent Director

Michael joined the Board in 2016. He brings more than 30 years’ extensive experience in both real estate and the public equity and debt markets.

In his 11 years with Novion Property Group, an ASX top 50 entity, and its predecessors, Michael held a number of executive positions including Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer and Fund Manager. In these roles Michael was directly responsible for raising several billion dollars in equity on the Australian Securities Exchange and corporate bonds in the domestic and US markets.

Most recently, Michael was appointed Non-Executive Director of GPT Funds Management Limited, the Responsible Entity of the GPT wholesale unlisted funds platform.

Michael is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

David Harrison

David Harrison
Managing Director and Group CEO

David has 31 years of property market experience across office, retail and industrial sectors in multiple geographies globally.  As Charter Hall Managing Director and Group CEO, David is responsible for all aspects of the Charter Hall business, with specific focus on strategy. He continues to build the momentum of a $20.4 billion investment portfolio and is recognised as a multi-core sector market leader.  David is an executive member of various Fund Boards and Partnership Investment Committees, Chair of the Executive Property Valuation Committee and Executive Leadership Group.

David has overseen the growth of the Charter Hall Group from $500 million to $20.4 billion of assets under management in 12 years.  David has been principally responsible for transactions exceeding $25 billion of commercial, retail and industrial property assets over the past 27 years.

David holds a Bachelor of Business Degree (Land Economy) from the University of Western Sydney, is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute (FAPI) and holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from the Securities Institute of Australia.


Greg Chubb
Executive Director

Greg joined Charter Hall in October 2014 with 26 years of retail property market experience. Greg is responsible for leading a team of 150 retail specialists across 80 supermarket-anchored shopping centres Australia-wide. Greg’s mandate includes working directly with the funds to drive value creation within the retail portfolio and optimise returns for our investors.  

Since joining Charter Hall, Greg has been focused on building shareholder value through active asset management, a commitment to a centre-centric culture and continuing to build partnerships with our customers and the broader communities in which we operate.

Prior to joining Charter Hall, Greg was Property Director at Coles Supermarkets Australia and Managing Director and Head of Retail for Sandalwood/Jones Lang LaSalle in Greater China. Greg has also held executive leadership roles at Mirvac and Lend Lease. 

Greg is a Registered Valuer, Licensed Real Estate Agent and a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute (FAPI).
