Charter Hall focuses on commercial property advisory work for investors acquiring office, industrial and retail investments across Sydney and Melbourne in addition to financial and development work-out advice to major Australian banks.

Charter Hall launches Charter Hall Investment Fund No.1 (CHIF), the first of its series of CHIFs (CHIF 1 to 7) which are focussed on high quality single and multi-asset property syndicates for high net worth individuals and retail investors. The series of CHIF continues today, with CHIF7 (the 130 Stirling Street Trust) closing oversubscribed in early 2011.

Charter Hall launches, in joint-venture with AMP Capital, Australia's first institutional opportunistic property fund, the AMP/Charter Hall Property Development Portfolio No.1 (PDP1). This was the first in a series of five opportunistic funds launched and managed by Charter Hall, with Charter Hall Opportunity Fund No.5 (CHOF5), launched in 2007, remaining Australia's largest opportunistic real estate fund.

Transfield Holdings acquires 50% of Charter Hall and David Harrison, the ex-Managing Director of Savills, joins the company and becomes Joint Managing Director alongside David Southon.

2005

Charter Hall lists on the Australian Securities Exchange, with Transfield Holdings doubling its initial investment to retain a 20% interest in the Group, and Charter Hall launches Charter Hall Opportunity Fund No.4 (CHOF4) and the Charter Hall Diversified Property Fund (CHDPF).

2006

Charter Hall launches the Core Plus Office Fund (CPOF), the first in the Group's series of long-term open ended core investment vehicles.

Charter Hall launches the Core Plus Industrial Fund (CPIF), Charter Hall Opportunity Fund No.5 (CHOF5) and the Charter Hall Umbrella Fund (CHUF).

Charter Hall launches the Core Plus Retail Fund (CPRF), now known as the Direct Retail Fund (DRF).

The Gandel Group makes a strategic long term investment in Charter Hall as part of the company's capital raising, acquiring 12% of the company and committing $45 million to support wholesale unlisted funds, including the Core Plus Office Fund (CPOF).

Charter Hall acquires the management rights to Macquarie Groups core real estate platform, which includes management rights and employees responsible for the Charter Hall Office REIT (CQO) (formerly Macquarie Office Fund), Charter Hall Retail REIT(CQR) (formerly Macquarie CountryWide Trust) and the Charter Hall Direct Property Fund (DPF) (formerly Macquarie Direct). In the same year, Charter Hall launches CHIF7 (the 130 Stirling Street Trust) and the Direct Industrial Fund (DIF).
