13/11/2008

In a joint initiative, Charter Hall Group and Built are proud to announce their support for Youngcare, through Charter Hall's latest refurbishment program at 40 Creek Street in Brisbane's Golden Triangle.

Youngcare is a Brisbane-based charity formed to provide relevant and dignified lifestyles for young Australians with high care needs, many who have an illness or injuries that will affect them for the rest of their lives.

The aim of the initiative is for Charter Hall and Built to raise around $70,000 for Youngcare through workplace giving, contractors, consultants, tenants and the community for the duration of the 40 Creek Street refurbishment project (October 2008 to mid 2009).

There are a number of onsite and public fund raising activities planned over the next 6-8 months which involve Australian's finest musicians, sporting personalities and celebrities, politicians as well as Youngcare, Charter Hall and Built representatives.

40 Creek Street was purchased by Charter Hall's Opportunity Fund No.5 (CHOF5) in June 2008 and once complete will offer approximately 12,000m2 of refurbished commercial office space across 17 levels and will target a minimum 4 Star NABERS Energy rating. Built were appointed as the builder in October of this year to assist with the refurbishment.

Charter Hall's Development Director, Chris Chapple said: "Aligning ourselves with Built to support Youngcare in rebuilding the lives of young Australians was a natural choice and one we are proud to be a part of".

Adding further "40 Creek Street will embrace Charter Hall's ESG philosophy %u2018Balance', which is not only about minimising the impact on our environment, but the way in which we contribute to the community".

Built Director, Brett Mason said: "Supporting Youngcare with Charter Hall in this initiative further demonstrates our commitment to Brisbane and the greater community".

Chairman and co-founder of Youngcare, David Conry spoke of Youngcare's appreciation of Charter Hall and Built's support.

"The support and commitment of Charter Hall and Built is inspiring and highlights the many ways in which industry can use creative means to bring further awareness to the dire issues faced by young Australians with high care needs", Mr Conry said.
