As part of the 40 Creek Street Fundraising campaign, Charter Hall Group and Built will host an abseiling event at 7.00am on Wednesday, 8 April 2009 to raise awareness and $10,000 for Youngcare. Youngcare is a nationally registered charity committed to providing relevant and dignified lifestyles for young Australians with high care needs.

The fundraising event will be held at Charter Hall's 40 Creek Street building in Brisbane's core financial district and will involve a handful of brave souls abseiling down 18 stories of 40 Creek Street's facade.

Some of the daredevils enlisted to take part in the challenge include celebrities like; World Cup Rugby Legend, Tim Horan; World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss; former professional rugby league player Ben Ikin and V8 Supercar Champion, Jamie Whincup. In addition to the celebrities, 40 Creek Street project representatives from Charter Hall and Built will also take part to help raise funds.

The fundraising initiative started in November last year and has been extremely successful with Charter Hall and Built raising $63,000 of the $70,000 target through workplace giving, contractors, consultants, tenants and the community for the duration of the 40 Creek Street refurbishment project (October 2008 to mid 2009).

Charter Hall's Development Director, Chris Chapple said: "The response to the 40 Creek Street fundraising initiative has been very well received and further demonstrates Charter Hall's ability to embrace its environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) initiative to help benefit others in need".

Built Director, Brett Mason said: "Built and Charter Hall's partnership to raise funds for Youngcare has created incredible results for this worthy cause. We are proud members of the Brisbane community – and recognise the success of the 40 Creek Fundraising initiative is a result of the goodwill and social commitment of the people of this City".

Chairman and co-founder of Youngcare, David Conry spoke of Youngcare's appreciation of Charter Hall and Built's support.

"We've been blown away by the enthusiasm and commitment from Built and Charter Hall to assist young people with high care needs. Funds raised will help Youngcare to deliver its second apartment project on the Gold Coast due to start construction later this year" David Conry said.

40 Creek Street was purchased by Charter Hall's Opportunity Fund No.5 (CHOF5) in June 2008, and once complete will offer approximately 12,000sqm of refurbished commercial office space across 17 levels and will target a minimum 4 Star NABERS Energy rating. Built were appointed as the builder in October 2008 to assist with the refurbishment.
